About OnCourt - Where Passion Meets Technology

Our Story

Born from Frustration, Built with Passion

OnCourt didn’t start in a Silicon Valley garage or a corporate boardroom. It began on actual courts – tennis courts, badminton halls, squash courts, and table tennis clubs – where real players were experiencing real problems that no one seemed interested in solving.

Picture this: You’ve just finished an incredible three-set match. The kind where every point mattered, where momentum shifted back and forth, where that final winning shot will be talked about for weeks. You’re buzzing with excitement, your opponent is graciously shaking hands, and then… nothing. The score gets forgotten, the moment fades, and within a month, you can barely remember who won, let alone the epic journey it took to get there.

Or maybe you’ve been there: trying to organize a tournament for your club, spending hours creating brackets on paper, constantly updating scores by hand, and dealing with the inevitable disputes about who played whom and what the results were. Meanwhile, your phone is buzzing with messages from three different group chats all trying to coordinate the same event.

We’ve lived these frustrations. We are these players. And we decided to do something about it.

The Team Behind OnCourt

Players First, Developers Second

Our founding team brings together decades of racket sports experience with cutting-edge technology expertise. But more importantly, we bring genuine passion for the sports we’re trying to improve.

Meet out founder

Dave - OnCourt Founder

Hello there 👋, I’m Dave!

As someone who spends countless hours on the tennis court, I often wished there was a simpler way to set up friendly matches, competitive ladders, and full-blown tournaments. That wish became On Court! I designed this app to take the pain out of organization, so you can focus on what you love: playing tennis.

We Are Your Playing Partners

Every member of our team is an active racket sports player. We understand the 6 AM court bookings, the post-work doubles sessions, the weekend tournaments, and the friendly rivalries that make these sports so compelling. We’ve experienced the highs of perfect shots and the lows of unforced errors. We know what it feels like to organize a tournament and what it takes to keep a playing group engaged.

Our Collective Experience Includes:

  • Competitive Tournament Play: From local club championships to regional competitions
  • Tournament Organization: Managing everything from 8-person round-robins to 64-player knockouts
  • Club Leadership: Serving on committees, organizing leagues, and building communities
  • Coaching Experience: Teaching players of all ages and skill levels
  • Technology Innovation: Building apps and platforms that millions of people use daily

This unique combination of sporting passion and technical expertise drives everything we create. We’re not just building features – we’re solving problems we face ourselves every time we step onto a court.

Our Development Philosophy

“If we wouldn’t use it, we won’t build it.”

This simple principle guides every decision we make. Every feature undergoes the ultimate test: would our team actually use this when we play? Does it solve a real problem or just add complexity? Does it enhance the sporting experience or distract from it?

We believe technology should be invisible when it’s working well. You shouldn’t have to think about the app – you should be thinking about your next shot, your tournament strategy, or celebrating that perfect winner down the line.

Why We’re Different

Understanding the Real Problems

Most sports apps are built by people who think they understand sports. We’re built by people who live and breathe racket sports. This fundamental difference shapes everything about OnCourt.

We Understand That:

  • Community Matters: Racket sports are social. They’re about friendships, rivalries, and shared experiences that extend far beyond the court.
  • Every Match Has a Story: Whether it’s a casual hit or a championship final, every match matters to the people playing it.
  • Organization Should Be Simple: Running tournaments and leagues shouldn’t require a computer science degree.
  • Integration Beats Innovation: You don’t need another messaging app – you need better integration with the tools you already use.
  • Fun Comes First: Competition should enhance enjoyment, not create stress and complications.

Built for Real Players, Real Situations

OnCourt is designed around actual player behavior and real-world constraints. We’ve watched players struggle with existing solutions and identified where technology can genuinely help versus where it just gets in the way.

Real-World Design Principles:

  • Court-Side Usability: Easy to use with sweaty hands, in bright sunlight, between sets
  • Offline Capability: Works even when court Wi-Fi is spotty or non-existent
  • Quick Entry: Score recording that doesn’t slow down the game
  • Flexible Formats: Adapts to how you actually play, not how we think you should play
  • Privacy Focused: Your games, your data, your choice about what to share

Our Mission

Elevating Every Match, Every Player, Every Community

We believe that every person who picks up a racket deserves to have their sporting journey celebrated, recorded, and shared. Whether you’re a beginner hitting your first clean forehand or a veteran winning your tenth club championship, your story matters.

Our Goals:

  • Preserve Sporting Memories: Ensure that great matches and achievements are never forgotten
  • Strengthen Communities: Help clubs, groups, and friends stay connected through their shared passion
  • Encourage Participation: Make it easier for people to find games, join competitions, and improve their skills
  • Celebrate Achievement: Give every player the recognition they deserve, regardless of skill level
  • Simplify Organization: Remove barriers that prevent communities from organizing great competitions

  • Memories are Preserved: The stories and achievements that matter to players are never lost
